This information will provide you with everything you need to know about the area, our building and your apartment.
AIR CONDITIONING
We ask that you treat air-conditioners with care. Shut ALL doors & windows for the air conditioner to work efficiently. Remember excessive use wastes energy and excessive water usage.
APARTMENTS
Please note that all apartments are privately owned with us managing them on the owners’ behalf. Please respect the apartments and their contents and ensure you report any breakages or problems to Reception as soon as possible so that we can arrange repairs and/or contact the apartment owner accordingly.
BALCONIES
Please ensure that children are supervised on the balcony at all times.
Do not throw anything off the balcony, including rubbish and cigarette butts as they hit people & damage the furniture below.
Please do not place towels or other articles over the railings as this is in breach of the Body Corporate By-laws.
BREAKAGES
We understand accidents sometimes happen! Should you break anything please let us know immediately. If it’s a larger issue (e.g. the TV screen or red wine / coffee stain on the carpets!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave. If you notice that some items in the Room are missing, broken or requires repair, please let us know at reception so that maintenance can fix the problem.
CABLE TELEVISION (FOXTEL)
All apartments are connected to Foxtel Cable TV. You can also watch free to air channels through the Foxtel system – please do not change the channel. If you are having any issues with finding Foxtel, go to the “source” button on your TV remote and check that you have selected either HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3 or HDMI4.
Foxtel Cable TV is provided free of charge. To operate please turn on the TV with the TV Remote. Then use the Foxtel Remote to change ALL stations/channels including free to air stations/channels, and for volume adjustments. The Foxtel should remain on at all times.
COMPLIMENTARIES
The items given on check in are complimentary and for your comfort until you can get to a supermarket. Additional items such as Toilet Paper, Dishwashing Detergent, Laundry Detergent are available for purchase at Reception.
DEPARTURE CLEANING
Management reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee to your credit card if the apartment is left in an unsatisfactory condition on departure. Please ensure that all rubbish is removed, and dishes are cleaned prior to departure. Charges will vary depending on time taken to clean the apartment.
DVD
There is a DVD player in each apartment for your use.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
The electrical current in Australia is 240 volts, 50 cycles. For adaptors or transformers, please contact reception.
FIRE ALARMS
Smoke detectors are installed in all apartments. In the event of a fire. Please be aware that the burning of food may cause the smoke detectors to activate.
Guests are responsible for any fees due to services attending a smoke or heat alarm call out caused by careless or inattentive actions.
In the event of a fire requiring an evacuation the audible evacuation alarm will sound. The Fire Evacuation Procedure can be found behind your front door. Please familiarize yourself with your nearest emergency exit and evacuation point by checking the diagram on the back of your front door. Do not attempt to take possessions with you. Do not use the elevators.
ALL FIRE DOORS ARE ON AN ALARM SITUATION. PLEASE EXIT THROUGH FOYERS OR GARAGE ROLLER DOORS. Do not exit through fire doors except in an emergency.
HOUSEKEEPING /APARTMENT SERVICING
Southern Cross Apartments is not a hotel. We are a fully self-contained holiday letting building.
Housekeeping staff are on the premises between the hours of 8:30 am – 2:00 pm. Any housekeeping requirements after this time may need to be attended to the following day.
If your stay 9 days or longer, fresh linen will be provided mid stay. If your stay is for 14 days or longer, your apartment will be serviced every 7 days.
Daily servicing can be provided upon request, however a service fee applies.
Our tariff includes a complimentary starter pack, which includes tea, coffee, milk, detergent, toilet paper etc in your apartment on arrival. Supermarkets and convenience stores are located nearby for further supplies during your stay. You may purchase essential items from reception for a small fee.
There are additional pillows and blankets in your wardrobes. Baby cots, highchairs and extra beds are available upon request. Please contact reception on ‘9’ to arrange.
A hairdryer is in the bathroom drawer of your apartment.
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
Each apartment is individually owned, so your apartment may have its own nuances. We have provided a general overview here, but if you are still having any issues, please don’t hesitate to speak to us at reception.
The Dishwasher: It’s very simple, we promise! Sprinkle detergent directly in the dispenser. Close the door and push start. Further supplies are available at reception for $0.50. All cups, glass, pots and pans should be stacked upside down.
The Fridge/freezer: You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it’s not cooling efficiently) please let us know.
LAUNDRY APPLIANCES
Each apartment has a washing machine and dryer for guests to use. We ask that you do not overload the machines. We also provide a clothes airer for you to hang towels and clothing on. Please refrain from hanging anything on balconies.
Dryers: Please clean the Lint filter after each use.
Irons and Ironing Boards: For your convenience, irons and ironing boards are located in the laundry in each unit.
All units provide blankets to keep you warm in winter. They are in the wardrobe.
LINEN/BEACH & POOL TOWELS
All linen for use inside the apartment is provided free included in the tariff. If your stay exceeds 8 nights, we provide a fresh set of linen included in the tariff. If you require an additional set of linen this is available for a cost of $30.00 per set.
We have Beach/Pool towels available for Hire at Reception. The cost of hire is $5.00 per towel per stay. Please note that we charge a Bond to your booking account of $20 per towel which is removed when the towel is returned to Reception.
SMOKING:
All apartments and our pool area are strictly non-smoking.
Smoking on the balcony of your unit is permitted as long as it does not interfere with the enjoyment of surrounding guests.
Excessive smoking resulting in complaints to our Reception Team by surrounding guests, will result in smokers being asked to move to another location or off site.
Please dispose of your cigarette butts in the appropriate outside bins and not in the bins in the rooms or discarded in our gardens or carpark area.
Extra charges may apply if unit is required to be treated to remove any smoking smells.
WIFI/INTERNET
Free Wi-Fi connection is available in every apartment and by the swimming pool area. Username and password will be provided on the day of arrival.
AIRPORT TRANSFERS
We can organise transfers to Gold Coast and Brisbane airports by taxi. Please contact Reception during office hours.
BABYSITTER
Need a night out? We can arrange for a qualified babysitter to watch your children while you have a night out.

You can find many children’s playgrounds along Burleigh Beach. A few tables, BBQ, and toilets are all conveniently located around the places.

MEDICAL SERVICES
A doctor’s surgery, dentist and chemist are all located within walking distance of Southern Cross Apartments.
The nearest medical centre is James St. Burleigh Medical Centre, located in: FriendlyCare Pharmacy Burleigh Heads., 4 James St, Burleigh Heads. Phone: 5601 0460. Their hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Should you require urgent medical attention where an ambulance is necessary, you will need to dial ‘0’ for an outside line, followed by 000. Talk to the Ambulance service before contacting Reception.

SUPERMARKETS
There is a Coles Supermarket located on the Gold Coast Highway at Miami. Head north up The Esplanade and turn left into Kratzmann Avenue and turn right at the traffic lights. You will see Coles Supermarket directly in front of you as you turn at the lights. Coles, Miami is open 7:00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Weekends.
There is also an Aldi Supermarket located on the other side of the Gold Coast Highway at Miami. Head north up The Esplanade and turn left into Kelly Avenue and turn left on to the Highway where you will see Aldi to your left. Aldi, Miami is open 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday except Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Intercom system is located outside of the Front Entrance glass doors which provides communication to all apartments. To contact an apartment simply press the apartment number and the Bell symbol.

KEYS/SECURITY FOBS
A maximum of 2 sets of the keys are provided for each apartment. The Security Tag/Fob on your key ring allows access to the basement car park, all building perimeter doors, the pool gate area, front doors (after hours) and operates the lifts. Please take care of your keys as there is a replacement charge of $70.00 for lost or damaged keys/fobs.
If you should lose your keys, please report it to reception immediately so that the key can be cancelled from the security system.
BARBEQUES
There are public picnic areas and barbeques on the beach just across the road and slightly to the left heading north and right heading south.
CAR PARKING IN THE BASEMENT
Each apartment has one allocated car space which is numbered the same as your apartment. The basement car park is on security lock 24 hours per day. The car park clearance is 2.1 m. If you are unable to access the park or have more than one vehicle, you will need to find parking in the street. There are plenty of free parking areas in the front of the building.
Sometimes we may have availability for a second car. This is subject to availability on arrival.
Please ensure that your vehicle is locked. Neither Southern Cross Apartments management nor the Body Corporate accepts any responsibility for any loss or damage caused to vehicles while traveling, standing or parked in the property of Southern Cross Apartments. Damage to, or loss of accessories or contents, are included in this clause.
CAR WASH BAY
There is a Car Wash Bay provided at the rear of the building, accessible from Third Avenue. Guests are requested to please hose away any residue after use and put back the hose. During water restrictions times, only buckets can be used for washing cars.
CHILDREN
We are a family building and welcome children at Southern Cross Beachfront Holiday Apartments. However, we do ask that children are supervised at all times, especially at the pool, on balconies and in the lift. It is important that they are not alone in any of these areas for their own safety. Your co-operation is appreciated.

GYMNASIUM – Out of Service 16th September to 20th December 2024
The Gym Hours are strictly 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ONLY persons 16 years and over are permitted in the gym. You must wear fully enclosed shoes and use a towel on the equipment. Please observe the Gym Rules on the Gym Door. The gym is located through the glass doors off the Foyer near the Indoor Spa, Sauna, Toilets and Recreation Area.

Indoor Spa heated to 35 degrees. PLEASE DO NOT USE OIL, SOAPS OR ANY OTHER CHEMICALS IN THE SPA. For Health requirements, please keep your head above the water at all times.
LOST PROPERTY
Management accepts no responsibility or liability for lost items or items left in an apartment on departure.
NOISE
We have a strict no noise / no party policy in place. As we are a family building, we ask that you keep noise to a minimum after 10 pm.
Please be aware that noise on the balcony does travel so please consider those around you. With this in mind, we do ask that you vacate balconies after 10 pm. Noisy, unruly behaviour will not be tolerated either in or around the building, especially in the pool area.
If you feel you are being bothered by other guests unreasonably at any time, please let us know.
RUBBISH/GARBAGE REMOVAL
On every floor there is a Refuse doorway adjacent to the hallway exit door for general rubbish to be placed down the chute. Under no circumstances should Glass Bottles be placed in the garbage chute. Bottles and Recyclables should be placed in the cube in the Refuse Room. Bulk garbage should be placed in the industrial bin located behind the double doors next to the exit steps at the rear of the building, opposite the car wash area on the ground floor.
PETS
Sorry, NO pets are permitted on the premises. We do not allow animals in any holiday apartment. Please ensure that you do not bring any animals onto the property.
SAUNA – Out of Service 16th September to 20th December 2024
To operate the Sauna please press the Green Button on the right hand side of the Sauna Door. The light will show the sauna on, may take 15 minutes to warm up and turns off automatically. Pressing the button when the light is illuminated will also turn the sauna off.
SECURITY
When leaving your apartment please ensure that all doors and windows are locked and all electrical appliances, including fans, lights and air conditioning, are turned off.
SWIMMING POOL & OUTDOOR SPA HOURS
7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Summer months and 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Winter months.
Outdoor swimming pool and spa are heated to 28 degrees. PLEASE DO NOT USE OIL, SOAPS OR ANY OTHER CHEMICALS IN THE SPA. For Health requirements keep your head above the water at all times.
Parents are responsible for the safety of their children who must be supervised at all times. Please no running or jumping in this area. No lifeguard is on duty and parents / guardians are responsible for the safety of children and themselves. An adult must accompany children under 13 years of age in the pool area. Glassware is strictly forbidden.
Please abide by pool rules at all times including no smoking and no glassware.
TENNIS COURT
We have 2 half sized tennis courts at the rear of the building – access these through the glass doors on the Ground Floor opposite the lifts. Racquets and Balls are available at Reception (just beside the Office Door) at no charge. Please ensure you return the racquets and balls when you are finished so that other guests can enjoy them as well.
VENDING MACHINE
Vending machine located in recreation room where you can find snacks & drinks.

CHECK-IN TIME:
Check in time is 2.00 pm. If you are arriving outside office hours, PLEASE give us a call, so alternative arrangements can be made.
We can sometimes arrange an early check-in, so please contact us if you will arrive early and we’ll do our best to try to arrange an early entry, however we can’t guarantee this.
If you are arriving after 4:30 pm Monday to Friday or 12:30 pm on a Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays, and have any problems on arrival, please dial ‘1’ & ‘Bell’ on the intercom located to the right of the locked sliding doors (or call on 0407 846 459) and we will assist you with checking in.
CHECK IN PROCEDURES:
All guests are required to show a valid credit card and a photo identification (current driver’s license or passport) at check-in to ensure that your identity matches the booking identity.
All guests under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The property has the right to refuse any booking when the legal guardian over 18 cannot provide a current photo ID or proof of guardianship if requested upon check-in.
Please note that all guests are required to provide an AUD 200 credit card pre-authorisation for the security bond on arrival. Credit card must be valid and belong to the person who is registering. This deposit is fully refundable within 14 days after check-out as long as there has been no damage to the property.
If no valid credit card available at check in, a $200 cash security bond is required and it is fully refundable upon check-out and subject to a damage inspection of the accommodation.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
We have a secure underground car park available for the guests. Parking is provided on site for 1 car, which is included in your rate.
We are located approx 12 km from the Gold Coast airport. A taxi or Uber can easily drop you at our front door.
CHECK-OUT TIME
Check out time is strictly 10.00 am.
If you desire late checkout (charges apply), please discuss with reception prior to 9:00 am on departure day.
Should you wish to extend the length of your stay please contact Reception no later than 4:00 p.m. one day prior to departure date.
CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES:
All charges are settled daily and processed to the credit card on file. Any breakages are to be discussed with our Reception Team prior to departure.
Guests are able to check out via the reception office from 8:30 am – 10 am.
If you are departing before our office opens, please settle all accounts the day before your departure. Ensure you get your car out of the basement first, then place both sets of keys in the “Key” hole in the Office door.
EARLY DEPARTURE:
We regret no refund is available should you choose an early departure.
PAYMENTS
We accept payments by Mastercard or Visa credit/debit cards, Eftpos cards, direct debit and cheques by prior arrangement with Management, or Cash.
